10-Minute Morning Workout

Ten minutes of movement in the morning is not a fitness programme – it is a starting signal. The Morning Workout sets a short exercise plan every day: upper body, core, endurance, legs and mobility, with Sunday as a rest day. All it takes is a mat; weights are optional.

Why in the morning?

Starting the day with movement means it is done before meetings and emails fill the calendar. Later in the day every session competes with urgent work – in the morning it does not. The daily check-in and the visible streak turn the intention into a habit: after 30 completed workouts the first milestone is reached.

As a measure or as a health app – which fits?

The same template can be used in two ways. As a measure, the whole company starts together: everyone has the same plan on the same day, the reminder arrives in the morning, and the dashboard shows how many take part. As a health app, the workout is permanently available in the employee portal and everyone does it at their own pace – no start date, no group. Both need the employee portal: that is where employees subscribe, check off their sessions and see their progress. The portal is included from the Starter plan.

How can you tell it is working?

Not by a peak in the first week, but by check-ins still coming in after a month. Managers who join in themselves and mention it in their team are the strongest lever. How to measure impact beyond participation is shown in the guide Measuring WHP impact.

How do you put the measure in place?

  1. 1
Start it as a measure or switch it on as a health app in the employee portal (Starter and up)
  2. 2
Inform employees — everyone subscribes themselves in the portal
  3. 3
No further setup needed: the exercise plan is preconfigured

Tax and health insurance: what is possible

Employer health benefits can be tax-free under § 3 no. 34 of the German Income Tax Act (EStG) up to €600 per employee per year — if they are provided in addition to the salary already owed and are either certified (§ 20 SGB V) or implemented within the company's health promotion process. Gym memberships and corporate fitness are not covered. For ZPP-certified courses (e.g. from Upfit), German statutory health insurers can reimburse all or part of the course fee to their insured members — then only the amount exceeding that reimbursement is tax-free. Projects within the company can be funded under § 20b SGB V, with no entitlement. Only your tax adviser can confirm the tax exemption.
