Ergonomics workshops that end as a one-off lecture fizzle out. The Ergonomics Bootcamp instead relies on hands-on experience rather than listening: every participant analyzes their own workstation, corrects their own posture, and learns exercises they can apply the very next morning.
What does a workshop day deliver that a flyer cannot?
Knowledge alone rarely changes behavior. What it takes is the moment someone sits in a correct position for the first time and notices: this is what it's supposed to feel like. That aha moment only comes through practice – guided by a physical therapist or ergonomics specialist who demonstrates, adjusts, and explains. Posture analysis, screen distance, chair height, shoulder and neck exercises – all in one block, in a single day.
What happens afterward – and why is follow-up decisive?
The bootcamp is the starting signal, not the conclusion. Anyone who has no opportunity afterward to ask questions or check the new settings slips back into old habits within two weeks. The most effective formats combine the action day with a short follow-up session – four weeks later – to check what has stuck. This second step costs little and secures the impact. A good complement is the best practice 10-Minute Ergonomics Self-Check.
How do you put the measure in place?
- 1Define the 5 daily tasks: day 1 monitor height and distance, day 2 chair and seat height, day 3 keyboard and mouse position, day 4 light and glare, day 5 break and movement rhythm.
- 2Write a short step-by-step guide for each task, with the ideal target state (e.g. “top edge of the monitor at eye level”).
- 3Prepare a simple checklist where participants can tick off each completed task.
- 4Announce the 5-day challenge and explain that an ergonomics task of about 10 minutes waits for everyone each day.
- 5Send out the checklist and the first task on monitor setup.
- 6Ask everyone to join in directly at their own workstation and to briefly compare the situation before and after.
- 7From Tuesday to Friday, send the next task each day with the matching guide.
- 8Encourage people to ask questions and to report missing aids (footrest, laptop stand) if needed.
- 9Share a short note each day on why the setting helps prevent complaints in the neck, back or wrists.
- 10Collect the completed checklists and see which tasks were done most often.
- 11Ask where aids are missing, and start concrete purchases.
- 12Note which workstations are still not optimal, and plan an individual readjustment for them.

Tax and health insurance: what is possible
Employer health benefits can be tax-free under § 3 no. 34 of the German Income Tax Act (EStG) up to €600 per employee per year — if they are provided in addition to the salary already owed and are either certified (§ 20 SGB V) or implemented within the company's health promotion process. Gym memberships and corporate fitness are not covered. For ZPP-certified courses (e.g. from Upfit), German statutory health insurers can reimburse all or part of the course fee to their insured members — then only the amount exceeding that reimbursement is tax-free. Projects within the company can be funded under § 20b SGB V, with no entitlement. Only your tax adviser can confirm the tax exemption.
